At present, in Nepal at the end of 10 years of school, the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) is conducted by the Education Board Sanothimi Bhaktapur. Previously a national School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examination was conducted at the end of grade 10.

The second official level of education is the second level which comprises two sections, secondary (grades 9-10) and higher secondary (grades 11 and 12). A national-level centralized examination is conducted at the end of grade ten. This examination was popularly known as the School Leaving Certificate (SLC).
